Prenatal sessions are the ones our team approaches with the most care, and I assign them only to therapists with specific prenatal training. Pregnancy changes what a body carries — the lower back works harder, hips and pelvis shift, legs hold more fluid, sleep gets complicated — and a good prenatal massage is adapted to all of it. We work in a comfortable side-lying position with a full set of support pillows, use lighter and slower techniques, choose a gentle pregnancy-appropriate oil, and skip the areas and pressure points that prenatal practice conservatively avoids. The aim is simple: an hour where everything feels supported.
What to Expect
Side-Lying Comfort
No face-down position and no pressure on the belly — you rest on your side with pillows supporting bump, knees and head, turning over halfway in your own time.
Where It Helps Most
Lower back and hips, shoulders and neck, and tired legs and feet get the most attention — adapted with gentle, flowing pressure throughout. Many mothers tell us they sleep better that night.
Pregnancy-Appropriate Oil
Plain warmed coconut oil or an unscented blend — we deliberately avoid the essential oils that prenatal guidelines suggest skipping.
At Your Pace
Need a pause, a sip of water, a position change, the fan on? The session moves at your pace, always. Just say the word.
When Prenatal Massage Is — and Isn't — a Good Idea
We offer prenatal massage from the second trimester onward, which is the widely used conservative standard. We do not massage during the first trimester. And one thing matters more than anything we do: if your pregnancy has any complications — or you are simply unsure — please check with your doctor or midwife before booking. We are experienced therapists, not medical professionals, and a quick confirmation from your doctor is the right first step. We are always happy to wait, reschedule or adapt a session based on what they advise.
For uncomplicated pregnancies, a gentle massage can be a genuinely lovely part of a Bali stay — a calm hour for a body doing constant quiet work. Partners often book alongside as a couples session, with the partner having a regular Balinese massage on a second table while the mother-to-be has her adapted session. Gentle foot and leg work can be included on request — see also our note on reflexology during pregnancy.
