Aromatherapy massage oils with frangipani flowers in Bali

Aromatherapy was my specialisation in spa work, and it is the session I book for myself when I need to properly switch off. The technique is gentler than classic Balinese — long, slow, gliding strokes with lighter pressure — because the goal is different: instead of chasing knots, we are settling the nervous system. The oils do half the work. We blend pure essential oils into warm coconut carrier oil at your villa, and the scent you choose shapes the whole hour: frangipani is Bali in a bottle, lavender is for sleep, lemongrass lifts and refreshes, sandalwood grounds. If you are jet-lagged, anxious, or simply have not exhaled in months, start here.

What to Expect

Choose Your Blend

Frangipani, lavender, lemongrass or sandalwood — your therapist brings the full set and helps you choose. Tell us about allergies or scent sensitivities when booking.

Slower, Lighter Touch

Continuous flowing strokes at a deliberately calm pace. If you want strong pressure with aromatic oils, say so — we can blend the two approaches.

Head & Face Included

Sessions finish with a scalp and gentle face massage using an unscented finishing oil — the part guests mention most in reviews.

Sleep-Friendly Timing

The 19:00–21:00 slot is popular for a reason: an evening aromatherapy session followed directly by bed is the best jet-lag reset we know.

When to Choose Aromatherapy

Choose aromatherapy when the tiredness is in your head as much as your body: after the long-haul flight, in the middle of a stressful stretch of remote work, or on the first evening of a holiday when you are still mentally at your desk. The combination of light rhythmic pressure, warmth and scent reliably slows everything down — most guests are asleep or close to it within twenty minutes. For physical knots and sport recovery you will get more from deep tissue; many guests alternate the two across a week.

A practical note on oils: we use genuine essential oils in skin-safe dilutions, and the scent is present without being overwhelming. If you are pregnant, several oils are best avoided — our prenatal massage uses its own gentle, pregnancy-appropriate blend. Booked as a pair with the same setup, it makes a lovely lighter option within a couples session.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which oil should I choose?
Can't decide? Frangipani is the signature Bali scent and our most loved. Lavender if the session is before sleep, lemongrass for a daytime refresh, sandalwood if you like warmer, woodier notes.
Is the pressure very light?
Lighter than Balinese by default, but it is your session — many guests ask for medium pressure with aromatic oils and that works beautifully. Tell your therapist what you prefer.
Will the oil stain sheets or leave me greasy?
We bring our own linens for the table, and the coconut carrier oil absorbs well. Your therapist finishes with a light towel-off; most guests shower after for the full effect of the scent, not necessity.
Is aromatherapy massage safe during pregnancy?
Some essential oils are not recommended during pregnancy, so we direct expecting mothers to our prenatal massage, which uses a gentle pregnancy-appropriate oil and adapted positioning.
Can I combine it with another massage style?
Yes — a popular choice is 90 minutes with deep work on the back and aromatherapy technique everywhere else. Mention it when booking and we'll send a therapist strong in both.
