Hot stone is the session I recommend to guests who want deep release but flinch at deep pressure. The principle is heat instead of force: smooth basalt stones — volcanic rock that holds warmth beautifully — are warmed in a water heater we bring with us, then used two ways. First as tools, gliding along oiled muscles so warmth and pressure arrive together; then as resting points, placed along the back, in the palms and on the legs while the therapist works elsewhere with their hands. Muscles soften under steady heat in a way fingers alone cannot achieve, which is why this is our most-booked session in the cooler rainy-season evenings and after long surf or hike days.
What to Expect
Heat Where It Counts
Warmed stones glide along the back, shoulders, legs and arms — the heat penetrates well beyond the surface, releasing layers that normally need hard elbow work.
Always Temperature-Checked
Stones come out of the warmer, are tested on the therapist's own skin, and only then touch yours. 'Deeply warm, never burning' is the standard, and you set it.
Stones + Hands
This is a full massage, not just stone placement — your therapist alternates stone work with classic Balinese hand technique for a complete session.
Best in the Evening
Heat plus slow strokes makes this the sleepiest session on our menu. The 19:00–21:00 slot followed by bed is the connoisseur's choice.
What a Home Hot Stone Session Looks Like
The setup is slightly bigger than usual — along with the table and linens we bring the stone set and a portable warmer that needs one power socket and about twenty minutes to reach temperature, which we use for your consultation and the opening minutes of hand massage. The stones themselves are smooth basalt, kept meticulously clean between sessions. A 60-minute session focuses stone work on the back, shoulders and legs; 90 minutes covers the full body with stones and adds resting stones during the final phase; 120 minutes is the complete ritual including arms, hands, feet and a scalp finish.
If you are choosing between this and other styles: hot stone delivers much of what people seek from deep tissue — released, warm, loosened muscles — but through heat rather than intensity, so there is no next-day soreness. It pairs wonderfully with an aromatic oil; ask for the aromatherapy blend upgrade when booking. As a shared experience on two tables it is a standout couples option for cooler evenings.
